When the pandemic hit in the spring of 2020, travel to Belize was halted, but we are now getting to the point that vacationing is again possible. Visitors are going to find a nation that truly cares about guest welfare, thus protocols and practices in place are both comprehensive and practical so your vacation experience is better than ever!
We ask the questions you would pose were you to sit down with Belize tourism professionals so you are properly prepared to take steps necessary to enjoy a seamless, relaxing holiday – even before you board your plane!
Q: Must I present a negative COVID test result before I depart?
A: Yes. Within 96 hours prior to your flight, you must download the Belize Health app and fill out the form. Learn more here.
Q: How can I be sure that my hotel is safe and that my health won’t be compromised?
A: Choose a property that has earned Gold Standard status. One of the first to be certified is Chabil Mar Resort on the Placencia peninsula. Visit our website page for additional reassurances.
Q: If I’ve been vaccinated, must I present proof of a negative test?
A: As long as you’ve had your shots two weeks before arrival and you bring your vaccination card along, you’re good. Come without proof of either and you’ll be required to be tested at the Belize airport and charged a $50 USD fee.
Q: But suppose I test positive? What happens to me?
A: You will be sequestered at a Ministry of Health-approved hotel for up to 14 days before you can return home.
Q: Let’s say I followed all the rules. What happens now?
A: You are welcome to do a happy dance all the way to your luxury digs at Chabil Mar Resort where accommodations are pristine, gourmet dining at the resort’s award-winning restaurant will be a highlight of your stay and everything you dreamed of doing before the COVID crisis interrupted your life can wind up on your to-do list!
Q: Is Chabil Mar offering specials now that Belize is welcoming tourists again?
A: You bet. Visit the resort’s packages and specials website page and prepare to be amazed by what you find.
Q: We heard that we can’t re-enter the U.S. without being tested. Must I go into Placencia Village to take care of this?
A: Nope. Chabil Mar contracts with medical authorities to administer tests on-site so you don’t have to interrupt a moment of your good time – but you will have to get out of the pool or leave the spa to accomplish this task!
