The Caribbean country of Belize is gaining a lot of attention to vacationers in the know — because while it offers lush vegetation and beautiful beaches all year long, it’s also surprisingly easy to get to. Travelers have plenty of options for direct flights into the country, and there are a number of options for getting where you need to go. Here’s everything you need to know before booking your flight.
When to Fly
No matter where you’re coming from, the availability of flights is going to depend on the time of year. Tourist season runs from November into April, and many airlines only offer flights during this period. You’ll find more direct flights from more cities during these months. On the contrary side, flying during the off season will typically allow you to get better deals on tickets, although you may have to work a little harder to find a flight that’s convenient to you.
Direct Flights From North America
All three North American countries offer direct flights into Belize, and chances are good that you can at least catch a connecting flight from any decently sized airport in North America. Here’s what you need to know about traveling in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
- Alaska, United, American, and Delta airlines all provide direct flights in the United States throughout the entire year. Those who decide to travel during the peak season can also take advantage of flights from Southwest, Frontier, and Sun Country Airlines.
- The only non-stop flights available out of Canada are offered by WestJet. Unfortunately, they only fly during the high season — so you’ll likely have to make a transfer in the U.S., Mexico, or Latin America from May to October.
- Tropic Airline — an airline created explicitly for travel to and from Belize — provides direct flights from Cancun. They depart twice a day and are a sensible option if you need to schedule a connecting flight.
Flights From Europe
You won’t find any direct flights coming into Belize from Europe or the United Kingdom, but American Airlines offers a regular flight that leaves from Heathrow and stops at Miami. It’s the most convenient option that doesn’t require an overnight connection. Cancun is also a popular connection point.
Of course, once you land in Belize City, you’ll need to find somewhere to stay. Placencia Peninsula is regularly called “The Island You Can Walk To”, and it offers some of the most pristine beaches in the country. And if you want to make the most of your stay, book your trip at Chabil Mar. We’ll roll out the red carpet for you and your whole party.
