Belize is the ultimate honeymoon destination

Belize is once again listed as an ultimate honeymoon destination in the world. This time on The Huffington Post in an article entitled “The Ultimate Honeymoon Destinations” written by Ella Jameson, a travel journalist who writes for many different websites, blogs and magazines.

“It’s a given that couples want romance on their honeymoon, but what about adventure? Culture? Wildlife?” writes Jameson who highly recommends Belize because it gives couples who want to do more on their honeymoon than just kick back on the beach, swim in the sea, and enjoy romantic evenings in spectacular settings.

The writer advises honeymooners to explore the Belize barrier reef which is wonderful for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. And of course Belize’s number one attraction the “Great Blue Hole” comes highly recommended as an idyllic place to dive. “Sinking down into this haunting submerged abyss, gazing at bizarre, mesmerizing limestone formations and encountering all manner of marine life is something that you won’t forget,” says Jameson about the great blue hole.

“There’s plenty for couples to do on dry land too: adrenaline junkies can tube through ancient caves and zip line along the rainforest canopy, while those after a bit more culture can immerse themselves in the mystical Maya temples and multiple monuments at Xunanatunich” says Jameson about Belize’s inland adventures.

The writer also mentioned that last year Reese Witherspoon and her Hollywood agent husband Jim Tith honeymooned in western Belize which is considered ideal for couples keen to experience the rainforests, mountains and captivating culture of Belize.

Speaking about the article, Larry France, Marketing Manager of Chabil Mar in Placencia said that Chabil Mar, the guest exclusive resort in Placencia offers several jungle and sea vacation packages that features the best of Belize. “The Swim Suits & Hiking Boots and the Belize Rainforest and Reef Adventures are two of our popular all inclusive Belize vacations that I highly recommend for honeymooners,” says France.

“The Moveable Feast Honeymoon Package which is an extraordinary honeymoon package that includes rainforest adventures, luxury accommodations and a potpourri of romantic experiences is another honeymoon package that honeymooners should consider” said Larry.

Kenya and the Mediterranean were the other two ultimate honeymoon destinations that Jameson recommended.

Belize is the best place to swim with whale sharks

Swimming with whale sharks, the largest fish in the sea is a one of a kind experience and there are only a handful of destinations on the planet where you can see these wonderful creatures. Every year, during the months of March, April, May and June, around the full moon, you can see these gentle giants drawn to Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve near Placencia in Southern Belize.

The whale sharks congregate near Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve to feed on plankton and other spawning fish. Slow moving, filter-feeding sharks, these calm creatures live in all tropical and warm temperate seas and are known to be gentle with divers.

“Due to the Whale Sharks relatively brief stay and local protection and conservation efforts, Whale Shark diving is extremely limited in Belize, thus we offer a package that offers a rare opportunity to swim with these amazing aquatic creatures,” says Larry France, Marketing Manager of Chabil Mar, a guest exclusive resort in the charming village of Placencia.

“Our unique Whale Shark Dive Package includes 3 Whale Shark dives, 2 world-class reef dives along the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere, and 7 nights at the luxurious Chabil Mar Resort,” adds France who recommends that you shouldn’t wait longer to book the whale shark package which will soon be sold out.

According to Wikipedia, the largest accurately measured whale shark in the world was 40 feet, 7 inches in length, with a 4.5 foot wide mouth, a 4.5 foot high dorsal fin, and 6.5 foot long pectoral fins.

“On non-dive days, you can explore Mayan ruins, hike the trails of the world’s only jaguar preserve, or trek up the Monkey River where nature abounds. Or simply enjoy being pampered in your exquisitely appointed villas, relax on your private veranda, or lounge poolside or on the white sand beach at Chabil Mar” says Larry.

Whale Sharks can weigh up to 47,000 pounds and live for up to 80 years.

Top Reasons to Go to The Southern Coast of Belize

vacation in placencia belize

Fodors is the largest publisher of travel and tourism information in the world and its website www.fodors.com is known for its unbiased, authentic and genuine reviews on travel.

The Mexico and Central America section of the website contains useful and imperative recommendations on the southern coast of Belize particularly Placencia which comes highly recommended to the intrepid traveler.

Over the years, Fodors has rated the top experiences, places, things to do, restaurants, and hotels in the Southern Coast  and in this post we share the top 3 things that can be experienced easily from Placencia:

Beaches. The mainland’s best beaches are on the Placencia peninsula and around Hopkins. Although they’re narrow ribbons of khaki rather than wide swaths of talcum-powder sand, they’re ideal for lazing in a hammock under a coco palm. And you don’t have to fight the crowds for a spot—at least not yet.

Jaguars. The world’s first and only jaguar preserve is the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. Chances are you won’t actually see one of these big, beautiful cats in the wild, as they roam the high bush mainly at night, but you may see tracks or hear a low growl in the darkness.

Water Sports. Anglers won’t be disappointed by the bonefish, tarpon, and other sportfishing. The Barrier Reef here is generally 15 miles (25 km) or more off the coast, so it’s a long trip out, even with the fast boats the dive shops use. However, there are patch reefs around closer islands, with excellent snorkeling. Serious divers will find two of Belize’s three atolls, Turneffe and Glover’s, within reach. In a charter sailboat you can island-hop in the protected waters inside the reef.

Chabil Mar, the guest exclusive resort in Placencia is the only hotel in the Peninsula to receive the Fodors Choice Four Star Hotel Designation and is located in Placencia Village, while many other Placencia Peninsula resorts and hotels are located as much as 12 miles north of the Village.

The premier location of the resort is perfect to visit the shops, restaurants, nightlife and authentic traditional fishing Village culture at your leisure and on your own schedule, as often as you wish, and then return to the peacefulness and guest exclusive privacy of Chabil Mar.
