The Cousteau’s can’t get enough of Belize, and neither will you after you visit

Belize is a small country nestled in the heart of the ancient Mayan civilization where lush tropical and jungle mountain terrain leads down to long stretches of beautiful beach fronts and extends into the amazing Meso-American barrier reef, the second largest barrier reef system in the world.

It is a place where worlds collide, and diversity is the norm. Belize has been praised and heralded for its natural beauty and wonders. It is home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Great Blue Hole, a site which Jacque Cousteau, the French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher made famous internationally.

In 1971, Cousteau brought his ship, the Calypso, to the hole to chart its depths. After his in depth study of the natural formation, he declared the Great Blue Hole one of the top 10 scuba diving destinations in the world.

More than 40 years later, his granddaughter Alexandra Cousteau, who serves as a senior advisor to Oceana, has returned to Belize several times and has noted that unlike many of the other places she has traveled to cover the course of her expeditions with her father and on her own, Belize’s marine environment remains in pristine condition, with very little changes and damage to its eco-system.

She commends Belize for its dedication to preserving the natural wonders of the sea and applauded the government for its recent decision to ban offshore oil drilling.

My husband and I fell in love in Belize and with Belize. This is where he and I took our first trip together. This is also where I taught him how to dive. Later, our daughter touched the ocean for the first time in Belize. Now, we’re looking forward to bringing our newborn son to Belize. Belize is one of those places that just feels so much like home to me,” Cousteau said.

Belize’ marine environment is world class and attracts thousands of travelers from all over the world each year who come to explore and experience. Cousteau believes this is worth preserving and thinks Belize has done an exceptional job and must continue to promote eco-tourism and sustainable development.

Much of Belize’s international appeal is based on eco-tourism and the many pristine wonders the country has to offer. 2016 is expected to be another great year for tourism in Belize also, as several new airlines and routes to Belize have opened even more markets to the country.

Airports and overnight arrivals are expected to see significant increases, especially with the introduction of Southwest Airlines’ cheap airfare rates, which is expected to create competition and see airfare become even more affordable. Kayak.com has reported that airfare is down 20 percent compared to the rates in 2014.

Belize is a tropical paradise with something for everyone – from scuba diving to exploring the marine environment, sailing in the vivid blue Caribbean Sea, snorkeling or visiting Laughing Bird Caye, which was voted by TripAdvisor this year as one of the best places to visit when staying in Placencia. Visiting Belize is truly a lifetime experience.

For those more inclined to land-based activities visitors can explore inland Belize which is home to a plethora of birds, pristine rainforests, jungle rivers, an abudance of ancient Maya cities like Caracol and Cahal Pech. Caves like Actun Tunichil Muknal and Barton Creek are ranked among the top sacred caves in the world.

Chabil Mar the guest exclusive resort on the Placencia peninsula offers a premium 7-night package to scuba dive at the site Jacques Cousteau made famous and has partnered with the award winning dive centers of Placencia village to provide a bountiful combination of dive services.

Travelers who wish to enjoy the wonders of Belize will definitely enjoy a stay a Chabil Mar and would certainly bask in the breath-taking experiences Belize has to offer.

It only takes one visit to Belize to understand why Belize needs to be protected. I’m proud to support Oceana in its efforts to protect beautiful Belize for future generations of Belizeans and for citizens around the world”, says Alexandra Cousteau.

Chabil Mar congratulates Tropic Air for ISSA award

flying-with-tropic

The Chabil Mar management and staff wishes to congratulate the Tropic Air team for its success and prestigious recognition in receiving a widely regarded standard safety assessment certification.

Tropic Air was awarded the International Airport Transport Association’s (IATA) Standard Safety Assessment Certificate at the Latin America and Caribbean Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting.

This is the first time any airline based in the Americas has received such an acknowledgment. Chabil Mar is extremely proud to have a Belizean-owned carrier pioneer the way forward in the region.

Tropic Air undertook the IATA Standard Safety Assessment as a voluntary evaluation program that renders beneficial training in areas of operational safety and efficiency to operators of smaller aircrafts.

The program is in line with the increasing emphasis on improving safety management, and aligning with global best practices with the aim to ensure safe and convenient travel for passengers.

The certification is timely as 2016 is expected to see increased air travel to and from Belize, and with increased traffic in and out the country, it also means increased traffic around the country as well.

One destination in the country expected to see more traffic in the next year is Placencia, which was recently voted as one of Travel and Leisure’s top 2016 destination.

Chabil Mar is ready to accommodate the influx of guests as the only guest exclusive resort on the Placencia Peninsula and the closest full–service resort to the Village of Placencia.

Why You Should Have Your Wedding and Honeymoon in Belize in 2016

Plan Your Wedding and Honeymoon in Belize for 2016

The average North American couple spent $31,213 on their 2014 wedding reports wedding authority, The Knot, and while 2015 statistics have yet to be published, that figure is likely to be even higher. Given this huge price tag, why add to your financial burden by planning a honeymoon that’s just as pricey? For that matter, why not eliminate all of the expense of a grand affair and enjoy a relaxed destination wedding instead?

If you choose Belize as both your wedding and honeymoon destination, you’ll find yourself in the hands of a tourism industry that works hard to help you keep your expenditures low and your romantic experiences high, so think seriously about saving a bundle by pairing a tropical wedding with an intimate honeymoon.

Belize’s year-round beauty and idyllic weather don’t cost a cent, yet you can expect picture-book scenery for your ceremony and honeymoon photos and you won’t have to pay luggage fees because your suitcases will be packed with lightweight clothing for weather that stays consistently warm. Dress down every day. Even at your beach or garden ceremony.

On the subject of luggage, your 2016 Belize wedding and honeymoon couldn’t come at a better time; airfare competition as a result of Southwest Airlines adding a Belize route has mediated the price of tickets, so whether you patronize Southwest, American, Delta, United or regional carriers, you can save money and collect frequent flyer miles for your next trip to Belize at the same time.

Pick an award-winning Belize resort like Chabil Mar on the Placencia peninsula–just named a top Caribbean destination by Travel and Leisure magazine for 2016—and neither of you have to lift a finger to enjoy luxe, private and intimate surroundings designed for relaxation and tranquility.

A frequent destination pick of TravelAdvisor and other prestigious travel rating resources, Chabil Mar has acquired quite the reputation for being the first choice of honeymooners who seek both luxury and affordability, and since staff is adroit at throwing weddings, you couldn’t throw a special request their way without hearing the phrase, “Of course we can do that for you!”

If you two only have eyes for each other, sequester yourselves at Chabil Mar after your nuptials by requesting the Wedding Package that includes plenty of onsite amenities from fine dining to couples massages. Outside resort gates, a wonderland awaits: Mayan ruins, jungles, rainforests, wildlife, marine activities and quaint villages filled with friendly people, so if your idea of a honeymoon includes adventures, say the word and make a list of the things you want to see from the resort’s long menu of options.

On the other hand, if a Belize honeymoon vacation package that exposes you to all of the treasures Belize has to offer is your dream, Chabil Mar staff is happy to book either their exotic, Island Hopping adventure that offers you a choice of a private sailboat or yacht plus crew or you can go all-out and take a Three Destination Tour. Learn more about all three package choices at https://chabilmarvillas.com/weddings-a-honeymoons-belize/honeymoons.html

Your arrangements sorted, here’s what you can expect during your honeymoon:
-Everyone speaks English so no translators are required,
-Resort staff will walk you through the marriage licensing process even before you get to Belize,
-Stretch your honeymoon dollar further than you imagined thanks to an easy-to-recall conversion rate of $1 USD to $2 BZD, and U.S. currency is widely accepted,
Belizean foods are exotic, delicious and ethnically diverse, so your taste buds will enjoy the honeymoon, too,
-You may even run into a celebrity or two, since Belize has become a hot spot for the in crowd, so keep an eye out for the paparazzi when you marry and/or honeymoon here in 2016 because you never know who you’ll run into on your romantic journey!

Placencia Belize: Just Named A Best Place to Travel in 2016

Chabil Mar Belize Resort Night Scene Pier and StarsThe Academy Awards. Nobel Prize. The Pulitzers. You probably know these names because they’re awards given to the best of the best every year, and it would be difficult to find people from around the globe who weren’t familiar with at least one of them.

But did you know that there are also prestigious honors awarded to destinations that are internationally recognized for excellence by industry peers? It’s true—which is why being tapped by Travel and Leisure editors as one of the world’s top travel destinations for 2016 came as such a surprise to Placencia tourism movers and shakers.

In case you haven’t heard of Travel and Leisure, it’s an established, award-winning magazine owned by Time, Inc., so when editors were browsing the planet in search of top destinations, putting Placencia on that list was huge news throughout Belize. For folks in the travel industry, that’s equal to winning an Oscar!

It’s no mystery to Belizeans why Placencia was singled out for recognition. The peninsula is home to every type of activity and attraction in area, so whether tourists want to stroll ancient Mayan ruins, scuba, fish, see exotic wildlife in their natural surroundings or take in the beauty that is unique to this still-unspoiled Caribbean nation, they can count on Placencia to deliver all of this and more.

But, Travel and Leisure editors didn’t pick Placencia based only on its natural sights, sounds and experiences. Resorts in this district have received unprecedented reportage and attention over the past few years. Even hard-to-please veteran travelers are won over. If Placencia’s accommodations weren’t top notch, it would hardly have gotten the attention of Travel & Leisure editors–and few lodgings maintain so lofty a reputation for service, luxury and amenities as the Villas of Chabil Mar, no stranger to travel awards, either.

“We were completely caught off guard when word of this amazing Travel and Leisure news reached us,” said Chabil Mar Marketing Manager Larry France. “Imagine being a popular resort located in an area proclaimed an “outstanding destination” by a network of writers and correspondents who are likely hard to please in light of the fact that they cover travel topics all day, every day!”

Accommodations and amenities alone at Chabil Mar are Travel and Leisure reviewer-friendly and regular guests of Chabil Mar don’t have to think long to come up with their favorite resort features: 400 feet of private Caribbean beachfront, 19 luxury villas—each beautifully appointed and furnished—seductive sea-facing verandas and endless, lush gardens into which infinity pools and resort amenities deliver the ultimate in guest privacy. The private dining pier and award-winning Café Mar restaurant are reasons some guests don’t leave the resort during their stay in Placencia.

“We know that it can be bad manners to brag too much,” adds France, “but after nine consecutive years of winning TripAdvisor awards, Fodor’s “Choice for Luxury” designation and being chosen as a site for so many magazines, movies and TV shows, it’s hard to keep from bragging about Chabil Mar! I’m afraid that this latest news—that Travel and Leisure designation given to Placencia—is going to test our mettle big time, but in a way, this latest honor inspires our staff and resort to keep striving for even more awards in the years ahead!”
